Who doesn't like Rambo? I read somewhere this game was inspired by Rambo and ho-boy did they do a great job on it. This game never lost it's balls in later installments, but I think hands down this is still one of the hardest to date.

I've beaten all the NES Ninja Gaidens, and Ghost in Goblins, but not this game.
I beat it, once, a long time ago, using the Konami code. Har har har... Usually with Contra I can make it up to at least the last stage. Beat the 3rd one, and the DS one, and the Wii-ware one... Mind you I typically play on easy, or if normal... Sometimes I resort to cheating if it's too hard like the DS one.
Don't some of them need to be beaten on hard to actually beat them? I think the 3rd one wouldn't let you play all the levels unless it was on the hardest setting.
Normal is the one that allows you to do everything. Older ones didn't care if you played on easy. The DS one will let you get right up to the last boss stage on easy but not through it. Thus why sometimes I may resort to cheating, Contra is balls on the toughness front.
I did beat the 3rd one legit though with my uncle. Why is it games seemed easier when I was younger? I doubt I could do it now.
I managed to beat the first contra a long time ago, only had to use the Konami code twice (norm BTW). also facebook has a Konami code....
this I knew, purple-pink shiney circles.
