I only judge this game harshly because I was such a fan of the original tactics for Playstation and this game felt like a slap in the face... It was a lot less serious, not as good to look at because it was downgraded to a portable, no camera control, and a story that left me a little bit lacking in comparison to where Final Fantasy Tactics had been before this installment.

Replaying it fairly recently proved it is a little better than my 2 star review prior to this, but it is only because I'm not adjusted to the "new world" Ivalice has evolved into since the original Final Fantasy Tactics. For a GBA title it's decent and a good look at the tactics based combat... I must press you on this though: PLAY THE ORIGINAL TACTICS!

Yup. I picked this up, and it just made me want to go back and play the original. I never finished it.
Funny story though... A few years later and Tactics A-2 comes out and I'm all aboard and loving it. Pop in Tactics A-1 and I still dislike it. I don't think I'll ever let FFTA's disappointing me go away...
